The Citadel is the final dungeon layer of Barony, being a tightly knit series of rooms and hallways with some of the strongest enemy types in the game to populate its halls. The prior area leading to this was The Caves, and the adventure ends with the boss battle between the player and the Archmagisters, Eurdyce and Orpheus.

As the final area of the game, the Citadel is rife with tough enemies, complemented by an unforgiving layout plan for most of its rooms. Instead of having a mixture of large rooms with some areas of confined hallways, the Citadel is often formed completely out of small conjoined rooms to a long and small corridor. There will be some areas with open design, but these are often a rarity to the congested feel of the citadel.
Goatmen are the new popular enemy type, wielding a variety of weapons. Other returning faces such as the Shadows, Vampires, Automatons, Incubi, Crystal Golems and even Cockatrices make their appearance here, making traversing these floor highly dangerous and requiring equally powerful fortitude to take on these kinds of enemies.
Secret Locations[]
Similarly to The Caves, The Citadel presents a single secret location rather than the typical two, with a simple lever and floating crystal puzzle to open up the path to the portal.
Bram’s Castle[]
Main Article: Bram’s Castle
Bram’s Castle is a heavily segmented area filled with many treasure chests and tough monsters, frequently relegated to rooms that off-shoot the main hallway to the top of the castle where Bram is hiding. Defeating Bram will unlock the area’s portal, as well as providing the final artifact in the game, the Wraith’s Gown. The portal to Bram’s Castle is found on the thirty-third level of the dungeon.
Erudyce and Orpheus[]

The lich siblings, Erudyce and Orpheus are the archmagisters of the Magician’s Guild. Delving quickly into the Caves and creating their Citadel shortly after Baron Herx was locked away, they discovered how to become liches and began shutting off all other members to attain greater power. Now, the player must confront them, so that they do not take over the realm with their rampant power.
